CultureBound is a ministry that aims to fulfill the Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20 says, "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
This passage tells us to go and make disciples of all nations. The word "go" here means a lot of different things. It can mean to move to another country and immerse yourself in a new culture and language. CultureBound trainees do that on a regular basis. "Go" can mean that you introduce yourself to the immigrants who just moved into your neighborhood. "Go" can mean that you donate to organizations who are equipping other people to do these things.
When you give, you take an active role in the global church. Each person is called by God to a specific mission. Some people are called to move to another nation. Some people are called to be preachers and teachers. Some people have access to financial resources that can equip others. Whatever your calling, you can make a difference.
On Tuesday we will participate in a giving initiative called GivingTuesday. From their site, GivingTuesday "was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good." A little more about GivingTuesday: "GivingTuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity."
We have just launched an end-of-year matching campaign. When you give to CultureBound, your dollars are doubled because others have followed their calling. We ask that you consider giving this holiday season, and especially on GivingTuesday. The team at CultureBound hopes to continue this important ministry for many years to come. We will not be able to do so without your financial support.
Whether you give to CultureBound this week, month, or on GivingTuesday, or whether you give to another global mission organization, we urge you to take your part in the Great Commission. You can "go" from inside your house, "go" down the street, and "go" across the world. God has equipped and called every person to a specific "go." What is your "go?"
